Lauren Easton is a mezzo soprano from Sydney, Australia. Throughout 2008 and 2009 Lauren was the full-time mezzo for the Song Company, Australia's premier 6 voice vocal ensemble performing extensively throughout Australia and internationally. In September of 2009 the group toured to Belgium where they were featured guests of the Festival van Vlaanderen in Gent. Following this tour Lauren began her studies with Dennis O'Neill at the Cardiff International Academy of Voice as a full scholarship recipient from the Australian International Opera Awards.
In 2011 Lauren began her first contract with the Glyndebourne Festival Opera Chorus as a chorister and cover, making her stage debut as Magdalena in the new David McVicar production of Die Meistersinger Von Nürnberg on June 10th. She was also invited to perform with the Jerwood Young Artist for the Wessex Glyndebourne Association. Earlier this year Lauren completed studies at the Wales International Academy of Voice and in June was awarded her Masters in Advanced Vocal Studies. Lauren studied under the direction of Dennis O'Neill OBE with the support of the AIOA, the Opus 50 Charitable Trust and Reborn Australia.
Lauren appeared with Glyndebourne Festival Opera last year as a principal artist in Julian Phillips' The Yellow Sofa, reprising her role as “Amarela” for the 2012 Tour. This year Lauren returns to the Festival to cover the role of “Dryad” in GFO’s new production of Ariadne auf Naxos. Lauren’s return to the UK and continued studies are with the support of the Marten Bequest Travelling Scholarship for 2013/2014.
